Interviews
On this page, you have access to interviews with two Emory University juniors, Lily Epstein and Victoria Levy.
Lily Epstein is an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a concentration in society and culture and Sociology minor. She has formed her own hybrid version of a communications major from a sociological perspective. Across her studies, Epstein has conducted her own research project on reality television and who consumes reality TV and why. She conducted her research as part of Sonal Nalkur's Sociology 221 course, Society and Culture. While Epstein does admit to being an avid fan of Survivor and The Bachelor, she has many critiques of the reality television industry. Click play, below, to hear what she has to say.
Victoria Levy is a Media Studies major and Sociology minor with aspirations of becoming involved in the public relations and communications worlds. She is currently enrolled in Marc Bousquet's Film 204 class, Introduction to Media Studies, and Tanine Allison's Film 208 course, Digital Media and Culture. Within these courses, Levy has learned about concepts such as "digital media cult," and examined what makes reality television so compelling for viewers, and why. Her most prized piece of reality TV is The Bachelor franchise. Watch her interview below to hear her thoughts on the matter.
