2014 Reality Television Viewership Statistics
Below, you'll find a visual graph depicting various reality television shows and the average viewership that tunes in for a given season. Keeping Up with the Kardashians takes the lead with an average 2.3 million viewers, unsurprisingly. Dance Moms follows them at 1.95 million viewers, then Teen Mom 2 with 1.88 million viewers, and Real Housewives of Orange County bringing up the rear with 1.78 million viewers. While I'm not surprised to see Keeping Up with the Kardashians with the most consistent viewers, I am surprised to see a franchise show like Real Housewives of Orange County have the lowest viewership.
Moving forward, I would like to see similar data by network, and do an examination of the demographics that each show caters to. Additionally, with reality television shows that have become franchises, like Keeping Up with the Kardashians and the Real Housewives series, I'd like to see which shows in each franchise have the largest viewerships.
